Reflecting God’s Word in Life its Jesus

Writer's picture: Grace WickGrace Wick

The third step in the journaling process is reflection. We use w-o-R-d for journaling in this process R-stands for reflect. We are to reflect what the word of God says in our everyday lives so we live the word of God. This brings to my mind a passage out of 2 Corinthians 3: 18 we are to reflect the Lord’s glory. Now I will put it into context a bit. I am copying this directly from my old NIV Bible 1984 translation of the NIV. I am struggling with the New Revisions.

But whenever anyone turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. Now the Lord is Spirit and where the Spirit of the Lord is there is freedom. And we who with unveiled faces all reflect the Lord’s glory and are being transformed into his likeness with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord who is Spirit. (2 Corinthians 3:16-18 NIV 1984 translation)

My current reflections seem to center around what it means to live in unity. Whether that is a reflection of Jesus and the Father in complete unity or Jesus and me living in oneness. What follows is my reflection on John 17.

The verses that I used recorded for that day came from John 17:23-26. I will entrust that you will read the passage if you need refreshed so I will not write this out again. Here is what I wrote so that you can sample and share the Word with me, and we can grow together and better reflect Christ. Forgive me if this is rough it is unedited as I wrote starting my day.

R- I could make the claim that journaling does for us (fellow believers) unites us by placing us where we are sharing the same word together. We are listening, obeying and doing as the Father tells us. Following Jesus’ example to do only what he sees the Father doing, to say only what he sees the Father doing. Unity must first take place between me and Jesus. This can then be true for everyone who places this as a lifestyle priority. It is possible and even probable that there will be unity between me and them as well.

May the Love of Jesus capture your heart. He loves you more than you can fathom.

Grace

Reflect seems doable; it's not an essay that will be corrected.
