Peace in the Midst of Chaos

Writer's picture: Grace WickGrace Wick

In this post I will break away from the type of things I have been posting lately. I have been sharing pieces of the booklet that I wrote to help you learn the journaling process. But at this time, I feel I should share some insights that I saw while I journaled. I have not kept the blog up to date so I share these things in light of the crazy things we are experiencing in the world today as we live in lock down due to the COVID-19 virus.

It would be easy to be alarmed by the events of the World today. Living in lock down is quite shocking, we lost our ability to travel freely over night. I will not state my opinion of this, just know; life is what it is. We live with what life is no matter how we fee about it. For those of us that walk with the Lord we have access to a peace that surpasses understanding. We do not have to understand what is happening to trust that no matter what happens God is in control. God makes clear that he thinks differently than we do. In fact he said something remarkable:

Isaiah 55:8 says, "“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord.

I am currently journaling my way through Exodus and have been reading the plagues and great deliverance that God brought to the Israelite people. For ten plagues God displays his power and demonstrates that he will not share his glory with any other. In Exodus 14:13-14 God says something profound. There is a dramatic backdrop as this takes place. On one side they are standing against the Red Sea. On the other side they are being chased by a strong and powerful army. The army of Pharaoh is the strongest and most powerful on the earth at the time. Against this setting God says through Moses, “Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the Lord will bring you today. The Egyptians you see today, you will never see again. The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.” Wait a minute this is an interesting response. You're afraid, stand still. You're uncertain, be still. Be still God will fight for you. God's ways are not our ways. When we want to fight and use all the wisdom we have to fight the COVID-19 battle. God says, Be still the Lord will fight for you.

If I could, I would add this song. So the song I would have you look for is "See a Victory".

Have peace in the midst of chaos God is still in control
