Anyone can read a book but when it comes to the Word of God we need to do more than just read it. While most books enhance our live, the Bible is so much more than an ordinary man made book and so we need to approach it differently than we do other books. I know that most of us know this but how we do this is not always as clear as the need to approach God's Word differently.
I have read the Bible for some twenty five plus years. I have seen multitudes of Bible reading plans and tried a bundle of them. Some of them have been great and some rather average. We know that we need to read our Bibles and I have even tried to teach others to use some of these Bible reading plans and tools for approaching God's Word. As a teacher I have found that although there is great value in reading through the Bible in a year it is not possible for many people and certainly not realistic for getting our elementary school children to do so.
James 1:22-25 says 22 Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. 23 Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like someone who looks at his face in a mirror 24 and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like. 25 But whoever looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues in it—not forgetting what they have heard, but doing it—they will be blessed in what they do.
If we are going to approach God's Word in a manner that allows us to not just listen to it but to remember and obey it, we have to do more than read it. All you need is your Bible a chapter a day reading plan and a blank note book. It does not need to be difficult but you need to feel you can interact with what you are reading in your Bible. In my next few posts I will expand and explain how to journal through Scripture and recommend daily reading that will allow you to engage, understand, remember and live what the

Word of God says.
Blessing to you as you engage God's word. If you like my blog please like and follow. Feel free to comment or message. It may take a little time for me to get back to you as I do work full time.
You are totally on point. Why would you get married and then never spend a moment with your spouse?
